Director of Radiation Oncology

As leader of the Division of Radiation Oncology, the Director will be a strong champion for the specialty. The Director will be expected to "lead from the front" in terms of growing the technological capability, academic profile and reputation of Radiation Oncology at Peter Mac on the world stage and to take an active role in national and international professional organisations and co-operative trials groups. Operationally, the Director will be expected to devise strategies to compete aggressively for patient referrals and to implement a system that effectively maximises the productivity and efficiency of the Division at all sites (Parkville, Moorabbin, Box Hill, Sunshine and Bendigo)). He/she will also be ultimately responsible for the quality and appropriateness of the radiation oncology service including clinical governance and the professional development of clinical staff within the tumour stream model. The Director will be committed to foster and grow the research output of the Division and while not necessarily having a lab program of his/her own, will promote the development of a strong laboratory program in radiation related research. The Director will also be committed to support and grow the educational programs of the Division with particular focus on Registrar training and Fellowship programs in radiation oncology.
